EVEREST BASE CMAP
KALAPATTHAR
This is the second popular
trekking in Nepal with the high efficiency
and competitive facilities of lodges
and resorts and lies in the eastern
part of Nepal. During the trekking anyone
can enjoy the breathtaking view of Mt.
Everest (Sagarmatha –Nepali name) along
with Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Pumari,
Thamserku, Amadablam etc. It is the
land of Sherpas. Broken into deep gorges
and glacial valleys. The trekking area
is covered by Sagarmatha National Park
and the total area measured for this
park is 1148 sq km. The area has vegetation
graduating from pine, hemlock, fir,
juniper, birch, rhododendrons and shrubs
to alpine plants and then to bare rock
and snow. The area is home to the Himalayan
tahr, ghoral, serow and musk deer. Common
birds are the impeyan, pheasant, blood
pheasant, red-billed cough and the yellow-billed
cough. Elevation ranges from 2845 –
8848 m. Trekking in this region starts
either form Jiri or from Lukla (50 mins
airtrip from Kathmandu). The Everest
region is understandably one of the
world’s most popular and spectacular
hiking destinations, as it offers fascinating
and enjoyable trekking. This trip begins
with a scenic flight to Lukla. The trek
starts from here, passing many farm
villages en route with beautiful views
of the world’s highest snow capped peaks.
The highest point of our trip is at
Kala Pattar, where we get an outstanding
panoramic view of peaks and its glaciers,
including Mount Everest.
Everest Base Camp is
both a scenic and cultural adventure
in the famous Khumbu region. We include
all the highlights of the Everest National
Park including Namche Bazaar (the Khumbu’s
Sherpa capital) the unmatched view point
of Kala Patthar (18,188ft) and a visit
to the ever-exciting Everest Base Camp.
With extraordinary views of Nuptse,
Everest and Lhotse and with ample time
to acclimatize and visit the Buddhist
monasteries of Pangboche, one of the
oldest in the area and Thyangboche,
this really is a classic trekking adventure. There
are some short and interesting "climbs"
of Gokyo Ri, Chukkung Ri and Kalapatthar
for the classic views of icefalls and
glaciers of Mahalangur Himalayan range
which comprises of five major 8000+
m. peaks - Everest, Cho OYu, Lhotse,
Lhotse Shar and Makalu. Gokyo &
Kalapathar via Cho La pass itinerary,
one of Nepal's most famous treks to
the Khumbu Mountains & Sherpa country.
After a magnificent mountain flight
to Lukla we follow the Dudh Kosi valley
to NamcheBazaar. The trail to Gokyo
is a gradual ascent up the valley passing
through patches of birch and rhododendron
forest where the elusive musk deer can
sometimes be seen. Through small yak-grazing
settlements we reach the Gokyo lakes
where we climb the Gokyo Peak (5480m)
and enjoy stunning summit mountain scenery
including Everest, Makalu and Cho Oyo.
After the Cho La pass, we reach Dzongla.
The views of Ama Dablam and Taweche
are spectacular. After the Zhongla ascent,
we continue towards Gorak Shep and climb
to Kala Pattar (5545m) from where we
enjoy an impressive up-close view of
Everest. Our return route passes through
Tengboche, a magnificent location with
a fascinating monastery, where we rest
and savor the incredible scenery, including
magnificent views of Everest, Ama Dablam
(6856m), Kantega (6809m), Kwangde (6194m),
Nuptse (7879m),
Lhotse (8511m).

TENGBOCHE MONASTERY
Tengboche treks offersThe
Exploration of Sherpa villages and ancient
monasteries in Everest region This is
an outstanding trek, visiting the high
valleys of the Khumbu with time to explore
villages and Tengboche monasteries and
to sample the incredible hospitality
of the Sherpa people. We fly from Kathmandu
to Lukla and trek slowly up the Dudh
Kosi Valley to the Sherpa capital, Namche.
Here, we have time to acclimatize, before
following the quiet trail to Thame village
in the Bhote Kosi valley. We visit the
ancient cliff-hugging Buddhist monastery.
Descending to Khumjung, we are treated
to incredible views of Kantega and Thamserku
and the Nuptse-Lhotse wall with Mt Everest
rearing above. The race starts on a flat
dry lake bed but the trail soon changes
to a rocky and scree morrain. From Lobuche
the terrain drops rapidly but the trail
meanders through a large boulder field
before flattening out along the valley
floor into Periche. The route becomes
dry and dusty on the way to Tengboche
and after a knee buckling 600m descent
competitors then have to endure the
first major climb of the race of 350m
up to Sarnassa. It’s then a fairly flat
run into Namche Bazaar.
